Metro established a presence in the retail market in the late 1990s when Al Mansour Holding Company launched the Metro Markets Company to fulfill the need for a better shopping experience. Today, Metro is one of the largest food retail chains in the market, operating 38 stores in seven different governorates: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, North Coast, Mansoura, Port Said, Hurghada, and Sharm El-Sheikh.

In 2017, building on the success of Metro and inspired by newly renovated spaces that stimulated consumer interest, the company started renovating 16 stores. The sleek, modern, and revamped stores have shown significant performance boosts. Capitalizing on the brand, Metro began producing high-quality private-label products in 2020, aimed at providing consistent, affordable, and high-quality products to customers.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, consumer buying behavior shifted towards online shopping. In response, Metro launched its online shopping website and mobile application, making shopping more convenient for consumers in the comfort of their own homes.

To ensure the highest quality services are offered to customers throughout the retail chain, Mansour also launched its own Mansour Training Academy. Employees are trained to provide the best customer care services and acquire other skills to meet customers’ needs.
