Metro opened in Alexandria in January 1998 to complement the group’s distribution chain and meet growing demand for a better shopping experience. It has grown into one of the largest food retail chains in the region, with 40 stores in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Mansoura, Ismailia, Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada and Port Said.
In 2017 Metro began modernising its stores, renovating 16 branches, and in 2020 it introduced its own private-label range. The Mansour Training Academy equips employees at every level to deliver outstanding customer care.
